The Recipe for Successful Data Play
Synopsis: Who, what and when of successful data usage. Who should be involved in a BIM To FM data expectation plan? What elements should be scoped and at what level of data should be asked for those elements? When should you check the data model for meeting the handover plan?
Speaker: Bill Debevc, Analyst Programmer, LPA, Inc.
Synopsis: After a few years of tinkering and spending a little bit of money buying way too much stuff. I would like to share my experiences with collecting and storing environmental data using IOT.
Speaker: William Carney, BIM Director, BSA LifeStructures
Synopsis: This course will compare workflows of room data management software. There are many solutions available for managing room data. Attendees of this course will get an overview of the challenges, benefits, and differences in using Excel with Dynamo, MS Access & Revit DB Link, dRofus, Clarity, and CTC's Project Suite.
Speaker: Carl Storms, Solutions Consultant, IMAGINiT Technologies
Synopsis: This Lab is NOT for Dynamo pro’s, but for the Dynamo novice looking to expand their skills, and do more with their data.
In this session, we will learn how to manage and manipulate data from a Revit file with Dynamo. We will also learn how to use Dynamo to help us add data to a Revit model from another source, like excel. These days when working with project data, visualization of that data is a must, we will explore this using the Archi-lab Mandrill Dynamo package from Konrad Sobon.
We will also explore some of the new features and updates of the latest release of Dynamo.
This lab will be split into two 45 minute sessions:
1. Use Power BI, a Microsoft Office 365 product, to understand how to start data visualization. This lab is for beginners, who do not have Power BI experience. David Haynes, Ideate Software
2. Learn basic python and how to use it to analyze, visualize and present data. A primer on pandas and seaborn. Arif Hanif, Affiliated Engineers, Inc.
- Understand the possibilities of data visualization
- Understand difference between retail (out of the box) vs open source software
- Create data visualizations
Speaker: Jon Anunson, Sr. Global Manager, Process & Metrics, AECOM
Synopsis:BIM isn’t big data, but it might grow up to be BIG. This is an opportunity for the AEC industry to become a relevant partner to our clients throughout their infrastructure lifecycle.
Speaker: Konrad Sobon, Design Technology Specialist, HOK
Synopsis: Pure data extracted from Revit models is not very telling of user behavior in those models. In this presentation we will be looking at digging a little deeper into that data to find patterns, routines and meaning. We will also look at different approaches of trying to influence behavior via subtle and less subtle clues that can be given to users.
